Catherine Grimball is celebrated for her “great emotional fervor and dynamism” (FestivalDC). A native of Pensacola, Florida, she began her musical journey there before earning her high school diploma from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. Ms. Grimball graduated cum laude with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She is particularly passionate about programming contemporary works by women composers, adding a unique dimension to her musical repertoire.

Her diverse career includes serving as a coach for the Advanced Vocal Institute at the Interlochen Arts Camp, Music Director of the Artists in Residence Program at the Pensacola Opera, Teaching Artist at the George Mason Community Arts Academy, and adjudicator for the Virginia Music Teachers Association. Since relocating to the D.C. area in 2021, her recent performances have included orchestral piano with the Piedmont Orchestra, the Shakespeare Opera Theatre, Piano at Peabody, the VMTA 2023 conference, and third prize at the 2024 Washington International Piano Artist’s Competition.

Ms. Grimball has also participated in renowned international festivals, including the Australian Chamber Music Festival, the Opera and Chamber Music Festival in Lucca, Italy, and PianoTexas, where she has showcased her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft.
